Photography: Statue below Musee Du Louvre by photographer Brian Jannsen
“Artistically, I feel like I'm taking God’s creation and trying my best to capture little snippets of it that can hopefully convey some of its amazing beauty,” he says. “The colors of nature, changing seasons, huge mountains, still lakes, small streams, waterfalls … there is so much to this earth. It's hard for me not to be inspired.”
Yet for Brian, perhaps the thrill of the chase is his greatest motivator - the ongoing quest for images so compelling, they encourage people to travel or simply to experience nature in a more profound way. It’s bringing the world to the doorstep of others that ultimately fuels his fervor. “You can capture a little slice of 'place and time' on an image and share it with people who aren’t even there, but they can still feel some of the sensations as if they had been,” Brian says. “In a small way, photography allows you to take people on a journey.”
When not shooting beautiful destinations, Brian can be found leading guests on workshops and tours - giving them the chance to see and capture some of the same imagery that he is known for.

Digital Art: Kimono by artist Catrin Welz-Stein (02)
The artist, Catrin Welz-Stein I stopped working in agencies after becoming a mother and after a short time of being self employed I decided to quit work until my children grew older. Because of my children (4 and 6 years old) I can go through childhood again and I can enjoy the world of fantasy and fairy tails. I like to look at childrens books and let them inspire me. „Where the wild things are“, from Maurice Sendak is a favourite book of all of us. Through the children books I rediscovered the love to illustration again.
As a professional graphic art designer I often had to make compromises for the clients. There were a lot of rules in visual communication and I often felt that I could not express my whole creativity. Now I enjoy creating art that does not explain itself from the beginning. My images have a dreamlike and surreal quality. They speak from inner feelings which we often hide in our daily life.
What are your greatest inspirations? My inspirations are: fantasy, children stories, medieval, Jugendstil, Folklore and Surrealism. I am inspired by the work of Nicoletta Ceccoli, Kelly Rae Roberts, Sabrina Ward Harrison, Olaf Hajek, Maggie Taylor, Natalie Shau, Colette Calascione and Nazario Graziano. Well, there are so many great artists around!
How did you gain so much knowledge in this area? As a graphic art designer I worked a lot with digital images.
What creative mediums do you prefer the most and why? My images are all digital made. I collect old images and illustrations and put them new together in Photoshop. The working process is based on combining and the division of photographs, with removing, filling and retouch. Using digital medium I have far more creative possibilities and I can work much faster then on the Canvas. Perhaps, my skills have been formed during the long years of working in front of my computer. Thanks to all that I can create my art best in digital.
Your art world is … My art world is Otto Dix, Frida Kahlo, Picasso, Gustav Klimt, Magritte and Boticelli.

Residential: Beautiful penthouse, Huys 404 Park Avenue, NYC by Piet Boon
Infusion of comfortable luxury. Beautiful designed penthouse, Huys 404 Park Avenue South, NYC by Dutch interior designer Piet Boon. Located in the heart of the vibrant NoMad district, Huys 404 is a neo-classical property dating from 1917, set amongst fin-de-siècle office buildings and warehouses and neighboring stately mansions from New York's Gilded Age. Piet Boon was invited by award-winning Dutch property developers Kroonenberg Groep to create the total concept for the conversion from commercial offices to 58 luxurious and elegantly detailed condominiums with ground-floor retail space. Love all the beautiful detailing, like the white walls with the black window frames, lots of light in the living room, the mustard colored Kekke dining chairs that add warmth to the minimalist space. Photographer brings Russian fairy tales to life in artistic portraits (03)
Margarita brings the beautiful mystery of Russian fairy tales to life through her fantastical portraits. Employing elaborate costumes and surreal props, each image is a peek into a mysterious, magical world. Kareva calls these vignettes Plein Air, as they take place among the gorgeous outdoor landscape with models who exude elegance - even when confronted with wild animals.
If you had told Kareva that five years ago she’d be a photographer, she wouldn’t have believed you. But, she picked up a camera back then and hasn’t stopped since. “I often say thanks to the universe for giving me a passion for my life,” she wrote. Her path to photography was a natural extension of her interests when she was younger. “I loved to read since childhood,” she explained, “and perhaps my love of reading has made me a dreamer and a person living in their fantasies.” It’s not something she takes for granted. “I’m glad that I had a way to play out my fantasies with the camera. It is very important for every person - to have their own way of expression.”Thank you for reading this blogpost.

Art: Japanese beauty in Art Déco style by artist Ichiro Tsuruta (02)
While surfing earlier on internet I found these elegant and colorful paintings from the Japanese visual artist Ichiro Tsuruta. I am really impressed about the beauty he is showing in his work. I wrote MORE BLOGS about his beautiful artwork. Be Inspired by his interesting artwork. This is a repost of my blogpost of 20-07-2018.
More about the artist
Ichiro Tsuruta is a Japanese artist born in 1954 in the city of Hondo-shi (current Amakusa-shi), Kumamoto, Japan. He grew up surrounded by rich nature of the Kyushu's Amakusa region. He liked to paint since he was a young boy. He graduated from the department of Graphic Design at Tama Art College and worked on Western style and realistic style illustrations. He then became interested in the concept of beauty in Japanese tradition and Buddhist art. Ichiro's paintings are influenced by ‘Ukiyo-e’ the ancient Japanese paintings of young women such as ‘Utamaro’ and ‘Hokusai’. In fact the Japanese women he has created are the result of the perfect union of European Art Deco and Japanese sensibility. From the inner sense of Ichiro’s beauty are born his illustrations of women or muses, as he calls them. Here beauty, elegance and eroticism meet and interweave. Since 1987 Noevir, cosmetics company of Japan had adopted Tsuruta’s painting of imaginary beauties for their campaign for eleven years. Now he is working mainly as the painter of “Bijinga”, “Butsuga” (Buddhist art) and so on.

Gorgeous S/S 2024 RTW collection from fashion designer Zuhair Murad, Part 4
Would like to share with you today the gorgeous S/S 2024 RTW collection from fashion designer Zuhair Murad. His designs are so feminine, sensual with a touch of glamour. It's always a joy to see more of his new collections. I will post the coming period several blogs from this collection. At the end of this blog I also added the You Tube movie where all the gowns are showed. Be Inspired ....... Earlier I wrote more blogs about this fantastic designer, SEE HERE
More about the designer
Zuhair Murad is a Beirut-based Lebanese fashion designer. He is considered to be one of the most talented designers of the 21st century. Zuhair Murad was born and raised in Baalbek, Lebanon in 1971. His passion for fashion was visible from an early age. When he was 14, Zuhair won a TV contest with three outfits which defined his personal and particular style. That childhood passion led him to study at a design school in Paris and in 1997 he opened his very first atelier in Beirut. In 1999, Murad celebrated his international debut at the Alta Roma Fashion Week, following an invitation from the Camera Nazionale della Moda and three years later he presented his couture collection for the 1st time during Haute Couture Week in Paris.
Zuhair Murad, fashion designer. Source: A&E World
Chosen by L’agenzia per la Moda to appear at the official opening of the 2001 festival in Rome, Murad quickly became known as one of the best designers in Italy. This was the beginning of a new era for him. In 2005, he debuted the first Zuhair Murad RTW collection, a more simple – yet still aesthetically glamorous – contemporary line designed to meet the expanding needs of his clients. Two years later inaugurates his Parisian “Maison de Couture” in the heart of the Triangle d’Or on “François 1er” Street.
The international media has declared him as ‘the star rocketing designer’ and ‘one of the most promising young designers for the new era’ due to his unique style and creativity which ensure his ongoing successful career.
Since 2009 an enormous amount of celebrities likes to shine at important events with his unique pieces. His ability to turn every woman who wears his amazing pieces into a goddess make some believe that he stole Cinderella’s fairy grandmother’s stick and everything he designed was created with pure magic. His unique creations that define oriental essence and beauty have made their way towards all the major podiums, boutiques and personalities.
What initially began as a young boy’s hobby with little sketches and pictures painted on paper and canvas has now grown into a fashion empire with strong regional recognition and a growing global reputation.
‘I started from scratch and worked my way up’, says Murad who’s adventurous and aspiring nature have lead him to where he is today. Zuhair Murad is the perfect example of how ambition, perseverance and creativity can lead to an eclectic runway of life.
‘It’s about sensuality and femininity, along with a touch of glamour.’

Luxurious wallpaper: Hermès on the wall
A contemporary interpretation of the iconic Chaine d'Ancre. The striated rings evoke motor racing tracks. Design: Equateur.
The iconic design by Robert Dallet created in 1988 presents a vision on a grand scale of equatorial flora and fauna. Design: Dune. This original drawing of Jeff Fischer recalls coastal flora in a medallion composition. The vegetal patterns with colors patinated by the fresh air reflect pallets of grass, algae and sea water. The technique of engraved printing allows a perfect gouache effect. Design: Optique chaîne d'ancre. The iconic sailor motif revisited by Anamorphée is linked together in a two-tone graphic checkerboard pattern in a contempory spirit. The harmony of natural colors is inspired by shells, sand and the seabed. Design: Cotte de Maillons. A design created by Henri d'Origny for the tie collection, Cotte de maillons is a delicate design of continuous, interlocking rings which evoke the metallic pieces used on harnesses. It is a continuation of the Fil d'argent design on a smaller scale and with a more jewellery-inspired spirit. Design: Rayure Hippique. These stripes in constrasting colours and cadenced lines evoke the bars of show-jumping obstacles. Design: Fil d'Argent. The design composed of interlaced rings is inspired by the metalwork used for horses harnesses. Design: Finish. The wallpaper version of the Finish fabric: an exuberant horse race sketched from life. Design: Up and Down. These irregular stripes dissemble a graphic device that plays with the letter H. Design: Vannerie. Designed by Henri d'Origny, this wallpaper printed like a trompe-l'oeil evokes basketry and basket weaving, garden trellises and plaits. Its colours are inspired by natural hues. Design: Panoramique Pele Mele. Block-printed by hand in France using a traditional technique, this fresco pays homage to the house's equestrian history. Design: Clou médor. The Médor Nail, metallic element from the Hermès jelewry collections is here illustrated in trompe l'oeil in cameo shades reinforced by the metallic effects.

Balancing Heritage & Modernity at the fashionshow of Christian Dior S/S 2024 Haute Couture
Maria Grazia Chiuri channels 1950s Dior for Christian Dior S/S 2024 Haute Couture, reimagining iconic silhouettes with moire's luxurious sway. Gowns, coats, and pants take on a timeless yet modern allure. The collection is a masterclass in balancing heritage and modernity. A beige coat with a gold-thread tapestry motif reflects Dior‘s love of 18th-century detail, while graphic black embroidery on an ivory skirt adds a dose of contemporary edge. Clean lines and architectural cuts coexist with delicate fabrics and ornate embellishments, creating a dialogue between eras that feels both harmonious and exciting. Gorgeous S/S 2024 RTW collection from fashion designer Zuhair Murad, Part 3

Photographer brings Russian fairy tales to life in artistic portraits (02)

Beautiful Yacht Design Collection 'Baia' by Christophe Pillet for Ethimo
While surfing on internet this morning I found this beautiful yacht design collection called 'Baia' designed by Christophe Pillet. Ethimo and Christophe Pillet created a new line of outdoor furniture for ‘living on the sea’.
Baia makes an exciting foray into the world of yacht design and outdoor decor, suggesting an open-air lifestyle philosophy that from dry land moves out to sea, configuring the boat as space for living without limits. To be furnished in a refined comfortable way, where the interiors are in constant dialogue with the exteriors. Be Inspired ..........
More about the designer Christophe Pillet:Lucidity of expression and the search for simplicity are the key principles: in the work of Christophe Pillet the elegance is optimized. Pillet’s perfect command of sensuality and refinement has made him one of the rare French designers who have gained global recognition designing hotels, boutiques and directing artistic projects in the USA, Great-Britain and Japan. He has won international acclaim for the spectrum and quality of his creations. Architecture, objects, furniture, artistic direction, his signature is invariably associated with the finest brands: Lacoste, Jean-Claude Jitrois, Catherine Malandrino, Lancel, Le Tannneur International. The scope and the variety of his projects share a common attitude, independent of scale. Whether it be as design director for Lacoste or in long-term collaborations with Driade, Cappellini, Emu, Porro or Serralunga his considered interpretations are a testament to high-voltage chic, distinguished both by its precision and rigor. If a “Pillet style” exists, it is in his ability to crystallize, within a project, the excitement of a proposition.

Runway: Dries van Noten S/S 2024 RTW, Part 2
Take a look at this inspiring new collection from fashion designer Dries van Noten for their season Spring/Summer 2024 RTW. I will publish 2 blogs, this is Part Two. Earlier I wrote more blogs about Fashion, SEE HERE
Born in Antwerp in 1958, Dries Van Noten is the third generation in a family of tailors. At the age of 18, Dries entered the fashion design course of Antwerp’s Royal Academy. On graduating, he began to freelance as a consultant designer before starting his own collection of menswear in 1986. Since its beginnings Dries Van Noten has presented collections for women and men for Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter each year. He celebrated his 50th fashion show in 2004 and 100th fashion show in 2017.
In June 2008, the Council of Fashion Designers of America honoured Dries Van Noten with its International Designer of the Year Award. 2014 began with the grand opening of Dries van Noten, “Inspirations”, a first ever exhibition featuring his designs and influences at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. Another configuration of the exhibit moved to Antwerp in 2015. In July France decorated Dries van Noten with the honour of ‘Officier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.’ In October 2016, Dries van Noten wins the Culture Award from The Province of Antwerp for his contribution to Culture.
2019 saw Mr. Van Noten collaborate with world renowned fashion designer Mr. Christian Lacroix on his collection for women, Spring/Summer 2020. In June 2020 and September 2021, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) has again nominated Dries van Noten for its International Designer of the Year Award.
Q&A with Dries van NotenWhen did you know that designing clothes was your path & passion? There was a certain logic to my choice as my family had been involved in fashion and the garment business for generations. My father created one of Belgium’s most innovative retailers of ‘Pret-a-Porter’ and my grandfather was a tailor. I inherited my love of garment making, its traditions and rituals, from these men and my mother. Family immersed me in the craft and skill of fabrics, impassioned me with the power of flair and style for women and men that fired my quest to explore and question the subjectivity of “beauty” and the role it would play in my life. My family was very supportive and encouraged me to continue its fashion tradition. I regularly accompanied my parents to Paris and Milan on their many buying trips for collections. Though they had imagined I might take over the retail business, that I was passionate to become a fashion designer came as a great surprise to them.
What is your design signature?I see a garment as a singular item of excellence that is part of a larger story told, firstly, within a designer’s vision for a collection and ultimately as part of the final wearer’s expression of their style through their wardrobe. My joy is to create a garment that fuses and balances beauty, craft and function. A garment that can perform well and continue in time to become part of life’s story. I enjoy juggling with colours, textures and light in a way that evokes rather than provokes.
Where do you come up with your best ideas? The spark of inspiration for the narrative of a collection rarely ever comes in the same way. The initial idea can sometimes come quickly and remain constant throughout the design process … occur on a walk in my garden, encountering a painting or the life and work of an artist. It can be something rarefied or ordinary, for example, suddenly looking at something that has surrounded me every day and seeing it in a different way that inspires. It can be a photograph in a book or a magazine, a re-read passage in a loved book, a conversation with friends or my design team or a piece of music. For other collections the story is more of a journey, deliberate, considered and evolves through time and the design process. Anything can be that spark that ignites the creative process. What I have learned is that one recognises the spark when it happens. It may not be too planned, be ‘of its time’ and is more emotional than cerebral.
Is there a difference between style and fashion?Of course, style comes from within ......
What colour or fabric would you never use?None actually! Often, challenging myself to work with colours, fabrics or forms that I have disliked and bringing them into a collection can be an important aspect of the creative process.
What is beauty?
The idea of beauty is supremely subjective and very personal. Time also plays a role when our view on what is beautiful to us evolves. A flower, a building or a garment can be a thing of wonder for one while leaving another completely indifferent. What was beautiful to us even recently may be ugly today. Luckily, all designers have their own eye on and language of beauty.

Photography: Real animal love by wildlife photographer Marina Cano
Cano, based in Cantabria, Spain, is an award-winning photographer whose work published worldwide, includes landscapes and a striking collection of wildlife in a variety of environments. Inspired to pick up a camera by her photography-loving father, Cano started her wildlife series not in the dry expanse of Africa but much closer to home: at the Cabárceno Wildlife Park just twenty minutes from her home.
Quote: "I have a special commitment with the planet and their threatened wildlife and hope my work can touch people’s hearts. Photographers usually say that they ‘capture’ images, but for me the opposite is true. Animals have captured me.”

Gorgeous S/S 2024 RTW collection from fashion designer Zuhair Murad, Part 1

Impressionism: Sunrise by Claude Monet
While surfing on Twitter today I found this beautiful painting from Claude Monet called 'Sunrise'. I hope you're inspired ... Earlier I wrote more blogs about ART, SEE HERE
Painters at work - Claude Monet
More about the artistClaude Monet, 1840–1926, French landscape painter. Monet was a founder of Impressionism. He adhered to its principles throughout his long career and is considered the most consistently representative painter of the school as well as one of the foremost painters of landscape in the history of art. As a youth in Le Havre, Monet was encouraged by the marine painter Boudin to paint in the open air, a practice he never forsook. After two years (1860–62) with the army in Algeria, he went to Paris, over parental objections, to study painting. In Paris, Monet formed lasting friendships with the artists who would become the major impressionists including Pissarro, Cézanne, Renoir, Sisley and Bazille. He and several of his friends painted for a time out-of-doors in the Barbizon district. Monet soon began to concern himself with his lifelong objective: portraying the variations of light and atmosphere brought on by changes of hour and season.

Runway: Dries van Noten S/S 2024 RTW, Part 1
Take a look at this inspiring new collection from fashion designer Dries van Noten for their season Spring/Summer 2024 RTW. I will publish 2 blogs, this is Part One.

I guess you've noticed already that I love the futuristic designs from Dutch fashion designer Iris van Herpen. Below you will find some flashback photos from her F/W 2017-18 Couture collection, seen at Paris Fashion Week 2017. I wrote earlier more blogs about her inspiring work, SEE HERE
Iris said about her collection: "It motivated me to dive into the contrasts between water and air, between outside and inside, between lightness and darkness." The collection's largely monochrome colour palette ranged from stark whites to soft greys. Soft silhouettes were informed by the lightness of air, and prints that created the optical illusion of movement were based on the fluidity of water. Be Inspired .......

Art: Beautiful artwork by Russian painter Vladimir Volegov
At the age of 14, he started to paint 3 m cinema posters, which later often added something special to the youth parties. In the city of Krivoi Rog, Vladimir entered an arts school, and during his time there, he discovered the art of many classical painters. The works by Ilya Repin and Valentin Serov had a particular effect on him.
In 1980, he entered the School of Graphics at Lvov Institute of Printing Art. At the entrance exam, he painted an illustration to the novel The Young Guard. The Admission Committee, having seen Vladimir’s work, unanimously made a decision about his admission, even though his Literature and the History of CPSU exam results were far from brilliant.
In 1982, in Krivoi Rog, Vladimir became the head of SPLAV artistic association. In 1986, he often visited Moscow, participated in international poster exhibitions, and in one of such contests, he won the first prize. In those very days, he visited the exhibition of Andreas Zorn’s works, which had a significant influence on him.
In 1988, he moved to Moscow in order to achieve his artistic potential. He started with painting portraits in Arbat, while at the same time he was looking for work. That was when his first contacts with publishing houses, advertising and record companies were established. They willingly employed him. With the emergence and development of digital technologies, Vladimir learned computer painting. He painted posters, covers for vinyl and CD albums, worked with advertising agencies for periodicals and street posters advertising. Throughout all that time, he never ceased to paint. The confused and hectic years of 1990 – 2000 were full of commercial orders, comic books, making sketches for promotional items. In order to survive, Vladimir accepted all the offers that came along.
In 1990, Vladimir started travelling to Europe, earning his living by painting portraits in the streets of Barcelona, Berlin, Vienna and other European cities. For 10 years, he participated in the Summer Portrait project in the Austrian town of Wels. Having seen his works on the vinyl and CD album covers he made for show business projects, Russian show business celebrities started making orders for painted portraits.
In 1992, during his summer work as a contracted painter in the park of Gardaland (Italy), in one of the local markets, he purchased a book with Giovanni Boldini’s pictorial reproductions, which impressed, amazed and inspired Vladimir.
When he saw the impressionists’ originals in the Musée d'Orsay, he started to spend more time on painting and never stopped working. At the beginning of 2000, Vladimir created a web page with his commercial and artistic works. It was through that page, that his art manager found him, and in 2004, Vladimir signed a long-term contract with Soho Editions, NY, USA. Vladimir discovered the names of John Singer Sargent, Joaquin Sorolla, adopted the style of romantic realism and started to paint in that manner.
After seven years of marriage, in 2006, Vladimir and his wife, Ekaterina, moved to Spain. And in that same year, their son Anton was born. In 2007, he started his successful cooperation with Galeries Bartoux in France as well as with art galleries in the USA, Italy and Sweden.
In 2011, while Vladimir was working on a 3D project, an idea of creating 3D dolls dawned on him. He set up web page and took part in the exhibitions in Paris (Doll Expo 2012), in Barcelona (Doll Show 2012), in New York (Art Expo New York 2012), in which both his paintings and dolls were a tremendous success. Vladimir worked on the inflow of private orders for portraits while simultaneously pursuing his artistic endeavours, the main theme of which was depicting women and children. Besides, Vladimir created videos dedicated to the process of painting creation, and has composed music to them.
Since 2015, Vladimir has started to conduct video tutorials in figurative oil painting and, after his followers’ persistent requests, he has created a tutorial DVD. You can find more work of Vladimir on You Tube: Golden Day, 100x73, detail.

Food: Wedding Cakes Inspired by Works of Art
Inspiration: "Sunflowers" series, by Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh, 1888 to 1889
Designed by contributing editor Wendy Kromer, a cake maker in Sandusky, Ohio. The floral motif on this cake will brighten any reception -- from the eclectic to the more traditional in style. Kromer used a golden color palette (both inside and out) and oven-dried piped meringue petals to channel van Gogh's cheerful blossoms. To mimic his textured brush strokes, she painted on the buttercream frosting with a brush.
French Post-Impressionism Wedding Cake Inspiration: "The Basket of Apples," by Paul Cezanne, circa 1893 Also designed by cake maker Wendy Kromer. This lemon cake was frosted in meringue to echo the original work's draped fabric. Finished with marzipan peaches and pears filled with nuts, dates, and figs.
Inspiration: The shimmering backgrounds in Austrian artist Gustav Klimt's figure paintings, early 1900s
Like the artist himself, Kromer's opulent caramel cake is all drama. The textured gold finish was made by pressing rectangles of edible gold leaf onto fondant. Decorative cord anchors each layer; the cake's cut-off corners allude to the artist's love of unconventional geometry.
Abstract Expressionism Wedding Cake
Inspiration: The poured canvases of American painter Jackson Pollock, 1947 to 1952
Designed by assistant food editor Elizabeth Colling. A chic urban wedding calls for a conversation piece like this cake. To re-create the artist's famous dripped, flung, and poured style, Colling drizzled melted white, milk, and dark chocolate onto tempered milk chocolate panels with a spoon. Then she fitted the panels onto a rich chocolate cake covered in fondant.
Dutch Golden Age Wedding Cake
Inspiration: The hyper-realistic botanical still-life paintings of Dutch artist Rachel Ruysch, circa 1685 to 1750
More than one guest will do a double take at the sight of this cake, which looks like a lush floral centerpiece. Custom-made sugar flowers, created by Amy DeGiulio of Sugar Flower Cake Shop in New York City, were planted in a bed of chocolate-fondant-covered cake, which was set in a large gold urn. Fill the cake's layers with rosewater buttercream to call out its blooming adornments.

It can be a photograph in a book or a magazine, a re-read passage in a loved book, a conversation with friends or my design team or a piece of music. For other collections the story is more of a journey, deliberate, considered, and evolves through time and the design process. Anything can be that spark that ignites the creative process. What I have learned is that one recognises the spark when it happens, it may not be too planned, be ‘of its time’ and is more emotional than cerebral.
Is there a difference between style and fashion?Of course, style comes from within..
What colour or fabric would you never use?None actually! Often, challenging myself to work with colours, fabrics, or forms that I have disliked and bringing them into a collection can be an important aspect of the creative process.

Photographer brings Russian fairy tales to life in artistic portraits (01)
It is very important for every person - to have their own way of expression.” Thank you for reading this blogpost.

Furniture Design: Beautiful Miau table & chair design by GamFratesi for Koyori
More about the designersGamFratesi’s design takes its creative drive from a fusion of tradition and renewal and in an experimental approach to their chosen materials and techniques. With their dual traditional background, Stine Gam and Enrico Fratesi draw on the classic Danish furniture and craft tradition as well as the classic Italian intellectual and conceptual approach. Understanding a tradition and addressing it actively in the workshop makes it possible to expand on it. From this cross-cultural substrate they create furniture that respectfully reflects tradition while also featuring unique embedded stories, symbols and associations, often expressed in a minimalist idiom. GamFratesi aim to create furniture that illustrates the process and the techniques that created it and which reflect a persistent exploration of the diverse border zone between harmony and disharmony.
Gamfratesi studio was founded in 2006 by Danish architect Stine Gam and Italian architect Enrico Fratesi. The studio is based in Copenhagen.

I will post 3 blogs about this beautiful collection, this is Part 2. I hope you're Inspired .........
2019 saw Mr Van Noten collaborate with world renowned fashion designer Mr Christian Lacroix on his collection for Women, Spring/Summer 2020.
My joy is to create a garment that fuses and balances beauty, craft and function, a garment that can perform well and continue in time to become part of life’s story. I enjoy juggling with colours, textures and light in a way that evokes rather than provokes.
Where do you come up with your best ideas? The spark of inspiration for the narrative of a collection rarely ever comes in the same way. The initial idea can sometimes come quickly and remain constant throughout the design process… occur on a walk in my garden, encountering a painting or the life and work of an artist. It can be something rarefied or ordinary, for example, suddenly looking at something that has surrounded me every day and seeing it in a different way that inspires. It can be a photograph in a book or a magazine, a re-read passage in a loved book, a conversation with friends or my design team or a piece of music. Art: Sculpture by Spanish artist Lito Barreiro - Home IV
Would like to share with you this beautiful sculpture from the Spanish artist Lito Barreiro. I was touched by the way he constructed this artwork in concrete. Be Inspired ......
More about the artworkSculpture made of recycled reinforced concrete, finished in iron patina. "Home IV" is a symbolic and compositional game that refers to the container and the content. A reflection between the signifier and the meaning that starts from the definition of an envelope that defines us as humans.Lito Barreiro, the artistMore about the artist
Lito Barreiro is a contemporary Spanish sculptor. His training as an architect pushes his work towards a geometric abstraction, and his experience as a builder brings the impulse to understand sculpture as a constructive process, where works are not sculpted, but constructed.
Barreiro's work have influences of naval construction, the work of anonymous stonemasons, and influences of the great Spanish sculptor Jorge Oteiza formally.
The conceptual aspect shows the influence of Arte Povera in the use of materials and the effect of the action of time in the work. The use of recycled concrete and common cardboard for the realization of the formwork confers to his work a peculiar character that connects with the dense and imprecise atmosphere of his native Galicia.

Elegant Menswear collection from Dries van Noten for Fall 2023, Part 2
I guess long-time readers of my blog know already that I am a huge fan of fashion designer Dries van Noten. The Dries Van Noten look is colorful with lots of embroidery and has an ethnic feel inspired by countries such as Morocco, India and Egypt. Comfort is as equally important as the design itself. He often creates clothing in a soft palette of black, white and gray but will add a splash of color in an accessory or detail to add contrast. Below you will find photos from his Fall 2023 menswear collection. I hope you're Inspired ....... Earlier I wrote more blogs about this fantastic designer, SEE HERE

Furniture Design: The Alpha chair by Made in Ratio
While surfing on internet I found this elegant furniture design. It's the Alpha chair designed by Made in Ratio. The Apha chair is a classic, sturdy, solid wood chair that’s made from the latest production technologies. Made in Ratio, founded by designer Brodie Neill, used CNC routering technique to be a high-production tool rather than just a prototyping technology. The chair even uses digital sculpting, rather than forming it from a mold. Its strong, A-shaped structure gives it a seamless appearance, which contrasts with more traditional furniture where joinery is visible. All components join organically into one, smooth chair. I hope you're inspired! Thank you for reading this blogpost.

PFW: Stunning S/S 2023 Haute Couture collection by Gaurav Gupta, Part 01
Be Inspired by this stunning haute couture collection from Indian master couturier Gaurav Gupta for the season Spring/Summer 2023, seen at Paris Fashion Week. I will write more blogs about this inspiring couturier ..... Will follow soon .....
Gaurav Gupta is the third Indian designer ever, to show at Haute Couture Week and at Palais de Tokyo, he unveiled his spring-summer 2023 couture collection. Known for his sculpted designs in couture and ready-to-wear, his themes in surrealism and fanaticism, as well as his fine jewelry make him sought after. The Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode (FHCM) chose Gupta to be on the official calendar because of his quintessential Indian core, of incorporating indigenous construction and the flamboyant details of his craftsmanship.
Graduating from Central Saint Martins in London, Gupta launched his brand in 2004 and today, he has been able to create a brand that permeates on the world’s stage. Having dressed Megan, Thee Stallion at the Grammy’s last year, Jennifer Hudson, and Latin artist Maluma at the Latin Billboards has allowed him the opportunity to grab the attention of the celebrity world. The man and woman that wears Gaurav Gupta are quite unique with a distinct personality.
“My brand is very couture and futuristic but rooted in detailed craftsmanship,” says Gupta. “Our aesthetic is usually described as future primitive as I mostly draw inspiration from fantastical, surreal themes and hence, it’s almost like a parallel spectrum that we think in. The woman who wants to experiment, make a statement, feel glamorous, and is confident is the woman who wears the brand. She’s self-aware, travels, and likes to dress up in fantasy – with a purpose and somebody who is artistically curious and has a keen eye for detail.”So, when the FHCM chose to host Gupta on the calendar he knew it was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up. “It was no less than a dream come true when I found out that we were on the official calendar for Haute Couture Week. I have been inventing and reinventing my craft with indigenous techniques and materials for over 18 years now and when we learned of the news, my team and I was elated with gratitude and joy that we have been given the opportunity to showcase our ingenuity at Couture Week,” says the designer. The CollectionThemed Shunya, a Sanskrit word meaning zero. According to the house in notes: zero was discovered in India centuries ago, which allowed for the study of space and time. “It changed the way humans could perceive possibilities in arithmetic – way beyond their wildest imagination,” shares Gupta.“From a purist school of thought, we have explored zero in its absolute form and how it expands into infinity. The gap between zero and infinity, if any, has underscored the expressions running through the collection. The infinite forms and themes are articulated in futuristic constructs engineered with structured draping – a technique developed and honed in-house, with the use of indigenous hand-woven textiles.”
There’s an asymmetrical element to many of the silhouettes in the collection. It brings a unique form of body movement to looks. The way Gupta has incorporated embroidery, gives movement to the female form in a unique way. And this movement is based on the five elements, called Panchamahabhutas in Indian mythology. “These abstractions are imagined on a naked body with the use of embellishing methods which emulate movement,” continues Gupta. “It took us around 3 months to conceptualize and make the collection. Our artisans, seamstresses and tailors were almost working round the clock to visually realize what we had envisioned collectively.”
There is an element of Egypt in the collection as well. In his use of gold and black, Gupta incorporated ancient Egypt. Pyramid nails are sewn into detailed directional embroideries- a handwoven technique to symbolize infinity.
“Haute Couture Week is the mecca of fashion. It is an honor to represent our country and partake in a spectacle which celebrates the art of couture and supreme craftsmanship. The 21 Best Fashion Books of all time according to ProfessorsThere is no better portal to knowledge than a book. Designers, editors, industry changemakers and fashion professors have unique insights into the best texts on the subject 'Best Fashion Books of All Time'. Below you will find fashion-related titles they consider as must-reads for inspiring your creativity or power your hunger to learn more about fashion. There are total 21 fashion books. I choose 10 books to give you an impression. For the complete list, see the link at the end of this blog. I hope you're inspired!
THE NEW BLACK VANGUARD BY ANTWAUN SARGENT
Photo: Courtesy of Aperture
"Joy! Pouring over the images, the rush of embodied understanding was/is glorious and profound." —Prof. Morgan
A VISIBLE MAN BY EDWARD ENNINFUL
Photo: Courtesy of Penguin Press
"Enninful is the most qualified person to replace Anna Wintour and in this book, he makes a strong case for his candidature. You know why else I love this book? It's the references for me. There are names that you will recognize, like Naomi Campbell and Pat McGrath, but there are others who have been lost in the churn of the fashion system. Enninful evacuates them and shares how they contributed to his ascent. This book pairs well with 'The Chiffon Trenches' by the late André Leon Talley. I would have loved to see them in conversation." — Professor Jonathan Square, Parsons School of Design
ADORNED IN DREAMS - FASHION AND MODERNITY BY ELIZABETH WILSON
Photo: Courtesy of Rutgers University Press
"Originally published in 1985, Wilson's work serves as a foundational text to understand the phenomenon of fashion in our modern world. The theoretical side of fashion is often either overlooked or mythologized, in effect marginalizing it entirely. In reality, the theories of fashion as a psychological and sociological phenomenon are massively important to understanding our most unsavory fashion behaviors — overconsumption, exclusion, neocolonialism, loss of life in the supply chain — and without that understanding, we will continue to engage in caustic and negative behavior in the name of fashion." —Prof. Gabriel
D.V. BY DIANA VREELAND
Photo: Courtesy of Ecco Press
"Diana Vreeland is my problematic fave. She was a product of her times, despite being an eccentric and free spirit. The book is chock full of zesty quotable quotes, like, 'I mean, a new dress doesn't get you anywhere; it's the life you're living in the dress, the sort of life you had lived before and what you will do in it later.' Or, 'I can't imagine becoming bored with red — it would be like becoming bored with the person you love.' She said that Black people should not be offended if white people wear blackamoors. Eek." —Prof. Square
DRESSED IN DREAMS BY TANISHA FORD
Photo: Courtesy of St. Martin's Press
"Tanisha Ford is an academic like myself, but this book is more memoir than monograph. Ford's scholarship has shaped the way I understand the relationship between fashion history and African American identity. However, 'Dressed in Dreams' was game-changer. Ford is on the forefront of breaking barriers between academia and popular writing. The book is fun, vulnerable and just plain readable." —Prof. Square
LITTLE BLACK DRESS BY ANDRÉ LEON TALLEY
Photo: Adam Kuehl/Skira Rizzoli
"This is a wonderful collection and history of the little black dress, as only André Leon Talley can tell it!" —Professor Adrienne Jones, Pratt Institute
RARE BIRD OF FASHION - THE IRREVERENT IRIS APFEL BY ERIC BOMAN
Photo: Courtesy of Thames & Hudson
"The undisputed queen of style! When this exhibit was at the Met, I must have gone at least eight times, in hopes of meeting her. It didn't happen then (that story is for another time), so I bought the book. Every single page is dripping with fabulousness. It's one of my personal sources of inspiration; only for the true fashionistas." —Prof. Jones
TIM GUNN'S FASHION BIBLE BY TIM GUNN
Photo: Courtesy of Gallery Books
"Tim Gunn is an undying inspiration for fashion pedagogy. You can't go wrong with any of what Tim Gunn says or writes, but his fashion bible is a particularly useful resource. It's less a bible and more of an accessible history of the most common garments in our closets." —Prof. Square
SNEAKERS - THE COMPLETE LIMITED EDITIONS GUIDE BY U-DOX
Photo: Courtesy of Thames & Hudson
"What makes sneaker releases even more special is when they're collaborative and/or limited. This book gives excellent representations of what makes this industry so special: innovative material selections and storytelling." —Prof. Williams
THE ART OF DRESSING CURVES: THE BEST-KEPT SECRETS OF A FASHION STYLIST" BY SUSAN MOSES
Photo: Courtesy of Harper Design
"The ultimate handbook for anyone who has curves! Susan has styled some of the most celebrated curves (Jill Scott, Queen Latifah, Emme) and gives you everything you need to know to make you look your best." —Prof. Jones

Elegant & Minimalistic conference table Snaregade by Norm Architects
The Snaregade Table was originally built for the home of MENU founder Bjarne Hansen, answering the question: what does the founder of a furniture company need in his dining room? He needed a table that was efficient in its use of space, visually light and of course sophisticated. It was so well-received that it’s been in production ever since. MENU brings personality and intimacy to every piece and the Snaregade showcases the best of that as it feels customised for every setting.
The new linoleum tops are both visually and materially appealing with a heartiness that makes it an easy choice for families with young children or for a restaurant setting. The more slender silhouette of the top adds to the already present sophistication and minimalism. Earlier I wrote more blogs about this inspiring company Norm Architects, SEE HERE I hope you're inspired! More about Norm ArchitectsKasper Rønn & Jonas Bjerre-PoulsenNORM is a multidisciplinary design studio situated in the heart of Copenhagen, Denmark, focusing on residential architecture, commercial interiors and industrial design.
2019 saw Mr Van Noten collaborate with world renowned fashion designer Mr Christian Lacroix on his collection for Women, Spring/Summer 2020.

Furniture Design: Miss Dior, the Dior Medallion Chair by Philippe Starck
MISS DIOR, THE DIOR MEDALLION CHAIR IMAGINED BY PHILIPPE STARCK
“Some have searched all their lives for the little black dress, I have always dreamed of the perfect little chair. This icon of perfection clearly exists in our collective unconscious, in the form of the Louis XVI Medallion chair and its magic oval, which is one of the symbols of the House of Dior. Everything has always brought me back to this chair.”
Philippe Starck
The interior designer Philippe Starck with his Miss Dior, the Dior Medallion Chair
More about the interior designer:
Philippe Starck is a French industrial architect and designer known for his wide range of designs including interior design, architecture, household objects, furniture, boats and other vehicles.
On the occasion of the Salone del Mobile 2022 in Milan, Dior Maison joined forces with Philippe Starck for the first time and invited him to reinterpret the Medallion chair. A symbol of the Louis XVI style, dear to Christian Dior.
The internationally renowned creator, famous for his visionary and poetic works, combines the fundamentals of the House with a savoir-faire pushing back the limits of excellence. For Dior, he dreamed up a version called Miss Dior, a tribute to a certain kind of femininity imbued with bold elegance. Driven by a “passion du minimum”, he has refined the structure of the famous seat to the extreme, seeking the absolute purity of its silhouette, emphasized even more by the lightness of aluminum, of which Philippe Starck values the nobility and durability, as well as its precious simplicity.

Impressive exhibition "Ashes and Snow" by photographer Gregory Colbert (02)
Gregory Colbert (born 1960 in Toronto) is a Canadian film-maker and photographer best known as the creator of Ashes and Snow, an exhibition of photographic artworks and films housed in the Nomadic Museum. Colbert sees himself as an apprentice to nature. His works are collaborations between humans and other species that express the poetic sensibilities and imaginations of human and animals. His images offer an inclusive non-hierarchical vision of the natural world, one that depicts an interdependence and symmetry between humanity and the rest of life. In describing his vision, Colbert has said, '"I would define what I do as storytelling … what’s interesting is to have an expression in an orchestra — and I’m just one musician in the orchestra. Unfortunately, as a species we’ve turned our back to the orchestra. I’m all about opening up the orchestra, not just to other humans, but to other species.
Photographer/filmmaker Gregory Colbert is the creator of the exhibition Ashes and Snow, an immersive experience of nature that combines photographic artworks, films and soundscapes, housed in a purpose-built traveling structure called the Nomadic Museum. To date, Ashes and Snow has attracted over 10 million visitors, making it the most attended exhibition by any living artist in history. Gregory Colbert - Ashes & Snow
Colbert was born in Toronto, Canada, in 1960. He began his career in Paris in 1983 making documentary films on social issues. His first exhibition, Timewaves, opened to wide critical acclaim in 1992 at the Museum of Elysée in Switzerland. For the next ten years, Colbert went off the grid and did not publicly share his art or show any films. He began traveling the world to photograph and film wondrous interactions between animals and humans.
After ten years passed, Colbert returned to present Ashes and Snow at the Arsenale in Venice, Italy, in 2002. With his debut, Photo magazine declared, “A new master is born.” The New York Times, in an article by Alan Riding, stated, “The power of the images comes less from their formal beauty than from the way they envelop the viewer in their mood. . . .They are simply windows to a world in which silence and patience govern time.” Ashes and Snow has been described as "extraordinary" by the Economist and "distinctive . . . monumental in every sense" by the Wall Street Journal. Stern magazine described the photographs as "fascinating" and Vanity Fair named Gregory Colbert in its "Best of the Best." I think of my life’s work as a celebration of all of nature, an orchestra that plays not the sounds of one musician, the music of one species, but rather an expression of all of nature’s songs. Decorating Ideas: Inspiring wallpaper designs from Hermès
Would like to share with you today several beautiful wallpaper designs from the French fashionhouse Hermès. Love the chique geometric patterns too. Hope I can inspire you with these designs ........

Fotografie: Alkmaar Light Festival 2022 - 1 groot lichtspektakel (Deel 2)

Elegant Menswear collection from Dries van Noten for Fall 2023, Part 1
I guess long-time readers of my weblog know that I am a huge fan of the fashion designer Dries van Noten. The Dries Van Noten look is colorful with lots of embroidery and has an ethnic feel inspired by countries such as Morocco, India and Egypt. Comfort is as equally important as the design itself. Dries van Noten often creates clothing in a soft palette of black, white and gray but will add a splash of color in an accessory or detail to add contrast. Stand is inspired by those lightweight and elegant cast iron details, typical of 1920s and 1930s interiors, that stylistically characterised the Victorian era and the subsequent Art Nouveau and Art Deco decades. Designed for Ex.t. FELT:
Felt in Danish means “field”, “area” or “frame” and refers to the spaces created by the grid by the various shelves. Fotografie: Alkmaar Light Festival 2022 - 1 groot lichtspektakel (Deel 1)
Alkmaar Light Festival 2022, 1 groot lichtspektakel.

Furniture Design: Craftsmanship by the Italian company Casapitti .....
More about the philosophy of 'Made in Italy' furniture by Casapitti
Casapitti fully represents and embraces the 'Made in Italy' philosophy. What does 'Made in Italy' exactly means? Made in Italy furniture is about passion, artisanship and above all quality. When you buy a piece of furniture you want it to last forever, you want your children to have it, to hand down memories. This is also Casapitti belief, creating furniture and memories for a lifetime. Made in Italy represents values and skills; the values of Italian culture and the skills of their craftsmen. It also shows the high quality of materials which are locally sourced. It brings together historical, cultural and social influences.Thank you for reading this blogpost.

Impressionism: Beautiful art by Russian artist Anna Razumovskay (02)
Artexpo New YorkAbout the artist:With her classic figurative forms, highly acclaimed Russian artist Anna Razumovskaya magically captures the lyrical romanticism of renaissance portraiture, while creating art that is completely modern and original. Anna is inspired by the graceful elegance of the female form, at turns, classically alluring, demure and provocative. Her art has a pervasive sense of “romanticism” and the passionate and dynamic application of paint on the canvas and the artist’s signature use of expressive colour, combine to create her uniquely recognizable style.
Anna Razumovskaya, the artistAnna is a graduate of the Russian State University For Arts, where she was awarded the distinction of high-class artist in 1991. Subsequently she studied art in Germany, Belgium and Holland. With solo exhibitions in New York, Paris, Toronto, Amsterdam, Antwerp and Berlin and numerous works in private collections across the globe, she has become one of the most exciting and collectable artists on the contemporary scene.
Born at the height of the cold war, Anna was exposed to very different worlds, that of the austere communist regime alongside the sophistication and feminity of her fashion-conscious mother. She excelled at art school and enjoyed the freedom of learning and perfecting her technique in a variety of different media. Of particular interest to her were the portrait masters of the late 19th Century, John Singer Sargent, the Russian painter Valentin Serov and earlier masters such as Peter Paul Rubens and Rembrandt. She travelled around Europe absorbing the influences of artists past and present and finally settled in Canada which she now feels to be her true home.
Looking at Anna Razumovskaya's works you always getting a feeling of artist sole tension behind the painting. "Romanticism" is the word to describe Anna's works. Interlacing of quiet tones with the bright color impact at the end is the trade mark of the artist. Abstract elements are the big aspect of every artwork and in a combination with the sensual dynamics, creates an unforgettable experience for the viewer.

More about the designer:Charlotte Licha, born and raised in Beirut, in a family that helped her to cultivate an artistic taste from childhood. Since she was 12, she started sketching her first dresses; ” Since that time my small world started to be created”; she says. At the age of 19 and after gaining a high diploma in fashion design, pattern-making and fashion marketing; the designer went to study photography which made of her a designer hungry for fashion and gifted with an eye for beauty; which leads her more to the fashion world.
Being fashion consultant for years, for photo sessions and chief designer, creating and designing couture and ready to wear collections for many Lebanese and international fashion houses, enriched her career and experience. In 2009, after several back and forth in Europe including France and Spain, she moved back to Lebanon to start a new chapter in her professional life. Her career as a woman in the business began and with the support of her husband they established the “Global Fashion Group”, a company that produces luxurious evening dresses and sells for more than 30 boutiques all over the world.
In 2011, Charlotte begins her steps towards the city center of fashion and design. She exhibits her collection in January at the show ready-to-wear in Paris. Although with a positive approach still her ambitions and aspirations were insufficient for the designer. She began her steps towards the fashion where she could best express her personal taste and vision; the woman in her outer and inner beauty and personality: "Sometimes two tissues connect me to a person or a scene." With passion and precision, the designer creates her dresses by searching a perfect harmony between her vision and the personality of her client. She enjoys with her fabrics and sewing materials which traces her steps towards an original knowledge and a perfection for the fashion; the sophisticated dresses, the elegant curves, the crafted embroideries translate in majestic dresses which every women dream about. In 2013, Charlotte decided to go to the heart of the haute couture world to dedicate herself to her dream in fashion design. She showed her first couture collection in Paris during the haute couture fashion week in January 2014.

Book chair 2008, Cloud Layers 2013, Muybridge Chair 2007. Ph. Jacqueline Knudsen = Republish of this blog on 05-01-2023. Since he graduated from the Design Academy in Eindhoven (NL) in 1990 he has been buying unusual chairs or exchanging them with designer friends for his own designs. The Gemeentemuseum in the Hague, the Netherlands will be showing this summer (was in 2018) Hutten’s personal collection alongside chairs of his own design, like the Berlage chair based on a chair designed by architect H.P. Berlage.
Chairs from designer friends. Ph. Jacqueline Knudsen The exhibition Richard Hutten – Sit! will feature a hundred chairs ‘that matter’ according to this Dutch designer, whether because of their cutting-edge design or because the maker is someone who is dear to him.

Fashion: 2022 was the year of Valentino Pink ...... (Part 2)
Highlights from the Valentino fashionshow for their F/W 2022 RTW collection. Italian fashion designer and creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli adopted an extreme color strategy for this RTW collection. Every look on his runway was pink - a specifically vivid tone of vibrating fuchsia. Or it was black (will show later on 2 series of black outfits). He said he’d chosen what he called “monotone” to remove distractions and concentrate the viewers’ eyes on distinguishing the differences between silhouette and detail. That theory played out in a huge collection of 81 looks both for menswear and womenswear. The pink went on for 40 silhouettes from head to toe (showed in either extremely high platform shoes or chunky sneakers), in everything from tiny bubble dresses to long, narrow tabards, to crinolined bells; from sweeping opera coats to tailored suits and overcoats. Decorating Ideas: Chique wallpaper by Vincenzo D’Alba for Affreschi & Affreschi
While surfing on internet this morning I found this chique wallpaper from Affreschi & Affreschi. This collection is called 'Season 1' and designed by the Italian designer Vincenzo D’Alba, masterful reproduced on handmade, mineral plaster sheets. Very inspirational design! Be Inspired ......
More about the companyAffreschi & Affreschi is an Italian company that produces frescoes and decorations on a thin layer of plaster that can be glued directly onto the wall like wallpaper. All works are made here in Italy at their place, after that they ship decorations directly to your place, ready to be installed onto the wall.
Composition
The difference can be seen and touched by hand. All the Affreschi & Affreschi designs are reproduced on fresh plaster sheets. It is therefore a special wallpaper covered with a layer of plaster obtained with a mixture of 27 precious raw materials among which Carrara marble and Roman travertine, on which the masterpieces of Italian art history have been carved. Imagine having the marble chips fallen while Canova, Michelangelo, Bernini and Raphael sculpted the works that made them the greatest in the world. Nowadays, with the same material, we get your walls covered to make them real masterpieces. The output is a natural surface, to the touch and to the sight, that evokes that of the ancient frescoes made to measure and finished with care in every detail so that the chosen design emerges in all its beauty .......
